Electrical Panel Manufacturing — LV, MCC and Drive Panels
Turnkey production of LV distribution, MCC, drive and power factor correction panels, including design, assembly, testing and labelling.
The electrical panel is the physical centre of a plant’s power distribution and machine control. Internal layout, cable cross-sections, protection selection and thermal management directly determine both the safety of the facility and how easily it can be maintained. Contech manufactures in its own workshop, from low-voltage distribution boards to motor control centres (MCC), drive panels and power factor correction panels. Every panel is engineered first: single-line diagram, layout plan and terminal list are produced before assembly begins.
Manufacturing follows different priorities depending on panel type. In LV distribution boards, the incoming breaker, busbar system and discrimination between outgoing stages are decisive; without coordination between protective devices, a minor fault can black out an entire plant. In MCC panels, the number of motors, the starting method and the ability to isolate a single compartment during maintenance come first, and the choice between withdrawable and fixed cubicles follows from that. In drive panels, heat is the critical factor: frequency converters generate significant heat under load, so enclosure volume, ventilation or cooling selection and device clearances are calculated against the manufacturer’s catalogue values. In power factor correction panels, the number of steps and the choice of detuned reactors are set by the harmonic load of the facility. During assembly, cable numbering and terminal labelling are done meticulously; having to trace a cable in the field during a fault is one of the most common reasons downtime stretches longer than it needs to. Panels are tested in the workshop before dispatch: insulation resistance measurement, control circuit function testing and I/O verification, after which the single-line diagram and terminal list are delivered with the panel. That documentation stays with the plant for every intervention across the panel’s service life.
- LV distribution, MCC, drive, control and power factor correction panels — from one workshop.
- Single-line diagram, layout plan and terminal list produced before manufacturing starts.
- Protection coordination, so a fault stops the affected stage rather than the whole plant.
- Thermal calculation on drive panels; ventilation or cooling selected against catalogue values.
- Cable numbering and terminal labelling, so no field tracing is needed during a fault.
- Pre-dispatch workshop testing: insulation resistance, control function tests and I/O checks.
- Single-line diagram and terminal list handed to the plant together with the panel.
- Main and sub-distribution boards for factories
- Motor control centre (MCC) installations on production lines
- Drive panels with frequency converters
- Power factor correction panels that avoid reactive power penalties
- Series control panel manufacturing for machine builders

How long does panel manufacturing take?
Duration depends on panel type, number of stages and material availability. A firm date is given after design approval; an estimate is shared at the quotation stage.
Can we choose the component brand?
Yes. If your plant has standardised on a brand (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Eaton and so on), we build with it. Where no preference is stated, we recommend what suits the application with good spare part availability.
Do you carry out revisions on our existing panel?
We do. The capacity, protection coordination and thermal condition of the existing panel are assessed, and whether revision or new manufacturing is the better route is evaluated together on technical and cost grounds.
Which documents are delivered with the panel?
The single-line diagram, layout plan, terminal list and test results are delivered with the panel. Labelled photographic documentation for maintenance can also be prepared on request.
