Turnkey Factory Setup and Electrical Infrastructure

Building a new factory means running dozens of interdependent tasks in the right order. If transformer capacity is not sized against the line’s final load, the infrastructure falls short once production grows; if cable routes are pulled before the machine layout is fixed, they get stripped out later. Contech builds the electrical and automation infrastructure of industrial facilities from the ground up and carries all of it under single responsibility — so no coordination gap opens between design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.

Setup starts with a load analysis based on the plant’s final production target. Alongside today’s machine list, lines planned for addition two years out are counted in, and incoming capacity and transformer rating are set accordingly. The power distribution architecture follows: where the transformer and main board sit, where sub-distribution points go, and how busbar or cable tray main routes run. This stage is worked jointly with the machine layout, because the proximity of distribution points to machines directly affects both cable cost and voltage drop. Panel manufacturing and field installation run in parallel. As trays and ladders are laid, separation is maintained between power, control and communication cables; power and signal cables pulled side by side on the same tray are the most common source of interference problems that prove hard to trace in automation. The earthing network is built to a single design across the whole facility. Power factor correction is planned from the start; reactive power penalties are a cost noticed only after the plant starts running and expensive to resolve afterwards. Industrial lighting is designed with lumen calculations, and fire detection and communication infrastructure are brought inside the same schedule. The automation layer is designed alongside the installation rather than last: PLC panel locations, fieldbus routes and I/O point distribution are all determined at this stage. Setup completes with a trial production run and handover in running condition, with drawings, schematics, cable schedules and the commissioning report delivered to the plant.
